Scripture Publication: Asia. A new translation of the four Gospels and the
book of Acts has been completed for a major language in a sensitive country
in Asia. It will be published in April. Pray that it will be well received
and that press coverage will be positive. Pray for wide distribution and
effective use of this fresh translation. Pray that people who want to know
more about Christ will find copies of this book and will come to know Him
as Savior.

Bible Translators’ Training Course (TTC 08): Papua New Guinea. Pray for
Duncan Kasokason and Joe McCarthy as they work together on early planning
for this April 23-May 30 course; and for Steven Ttopoqogo who has agreed to
receive training to be the new principal. Course planners hope to run four
different modules simultaneously, TTC 1, 2, 3 and 4. All those involved
greatly value your prayers for the applicants and for the Steering
Committee dealing with staffing and policy issues. 54 participants from 17
languages are hoping to attend. Pray for God’s blessing resulting in high
quality Bible translations.

Bible translation mobilization: Guatemala. A national organization for the
mobilization of Bible translation is in the process of development in
Guatemala. The founders are Sergio and Ingrid Sandoval, who have met with
the leaders of Wycliffe Americas and Guatemala’s branch of COMIBAM.* Pray
for the safe and sure birth of this new movement and that God will help the
Sandovals to do this work. They ask that we pray for God’s provision for
their needs and for spiritual maturity to meet the challenges of the task
ahead of them.
*Cooperación Misionera Iberamericano, an international organization for
mobilization of missions

Global Day of Prayer: worldwide. The vision of the Global Day of Prayer
international committee is to see all 220 nations of the world participate.
The date is May 11, Pentecost Sunday. Currently 186 nations have
registered. Worldwide prayer is also encouraged for ten days leading up to
Pentecost, May 1-11. Please join in especially on Wednesday May 7 when the
focus is for “the Bible to be translated for the thousands of people groups
without even one verse in their language.” The guide is available in
thirty-two languages at www.globaldayofprayer.com.

Music evangelism: Ecuador. Believers from a local language group initiated
having a Christian music concert in their town in March. They approached
the local authorities and waited for permission to perform in the central
plaza downtown. Permission was granted. They invited several bands. As they
sang God’s praises, many local people came, believers, non-believers, young
men and people from other provinces. The church is hopeful that this will
be the first of an annual event. Pray God will give them many more
opportunities to publicly praise His name in song and glorify Him with
thanksgiving.
Psalm 69:30

Administrative Staff Need: Europe. At the end of January, prayer was
requested for work permits for expatriate staff members at an office in
Europe. Praise God that the needed work permits have been granted. Now the
next step, checking the appropriate qualifications and doing visa
applications for each individual, will be easier but still needs prayer.
Pray for Lena, the office worker responsible, as she works through the
required processes. Co-workers there write, “We’re grateful for the prayer
and for the way God is answering.”

Quechua women prepare workshops: Peru. Several Quechua women are preparing
to teach five Women of the Bible workshops during April, June, August,
October and November. Four new locations have been selected and women who
graduated from the 2007 courses are joining the teaching team. Praise God
that these women understand, prepare and apply God’s Word to their own
lives and also teach others in their churches and communities. Pray for all
who will be involved in the workshops during 2008 and for good results of
spiritual growth and encouragement. There are three to four and a half
million Quechua speakers in Peru.

————————————–

Psalm 113.2-3
Let the name of the Lord be praised,
both now and forevermore.
From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets,
the name of the Lord is to be praised.
